Since the beginning of 2020, Saint Louis Closet Co. has had the honor of donating $52,127.50 to multiple local nonprofits. It’s thanks to the love, compassion, and patronage provided by our community that we have been able to continue giving back to nonprofits in need of funding. In fact, our next partner for the month of August is Ready Readers!

Ready Readers
Founded in 1997, Ready Readers serves the St. Louis metro area and prepares preschool-age children living in low-income communities to become readers by reading aloud to them, providing high-quality books, and offering literacy-related experiences.
Ready Readers currently engages over 9,000 children with story times, pen pal activities, and other early literacy programming designed to build and strengthen early literacy foundations, engage children in valuable discussion experiences, and develop strong, trusting relationships with trauma-informed adults.
In addition, they also distribute books and resources to children in the community through avenues like food banks, community events, and parent groups. This included the distribution of new or gently used books to the community that they receive as donations from individuals or groups. They are always accepting donations, especially those geared towards children ages five and under. More information about donating books to Ready Readers can be found here.
Saint Louis Closet Co.’s Impact
Funds raised from Closets for a Cause will assist Ready Readers in their mission to serve preschool-age children living in low-income communities through school and early childhood centers, community events, and partnerships with other organizations. Put simply, they make reading fun while still helping children, teachers, and families build crucial literacy skills.
“Ready Readers is incredibly grateful to be partnering with Saint Louis Closet Co. as the August Closets for a Cause non-profit,” said Maggie Strube, the program director for Ready Readers. “Ready Readers brings the brain-boosting benefits of read-aloud sessions and gift books to preschool children living in low-income communities. Cultivating a strong partnership with Saint Louis Closet Co. will allow us to do even more for the children we serve.”
