Closets for a Cause—Infant Loss Resources

Saint Louis Closet Co. is excited to announce that a portion of its May profits is going to Infant Loss Resources. Formerly SIDS Resources, Infant Loss Resource’s mission is to promote safe practices to reduce infant death risk and provide grief support to families who have lost a child.

Infant Loss Resources

The nonprofit took shape in 1974 as a federally funded project, first in St. Louis and later statewide, after a social worker and neonatologist lost a baby.

Today, Infant Loss Resources provides direct bereavement support to over 250 families statewide every year. In addition, Infant Loss Resources staff members provide educational programs to over 300 professional/community groups annually, representing more than 4,000 individuals who receive information on Safe Sleep.

Infant Loss Resources is best known as a grief support group for those who have lost a child and as a trusted part of the community as infant sleep trainers.

One of the most gratifying things Infant Loss Resources is a part of is their annual Strides for Hope 5k run/1 mile walk.  Over 400 people share tears, hugs, and laughter in one setting. The event provides hope, healing, and connections to a community of caring people.

Saint Louis Closet Co.’s Impact

“We are thrilled to partner with Saint Louis Closet Co. for Closets for a Cause,” says Infant Loss Resources executive director Vikki Collier. “The funds we raise will go towards our Safe Sleep Program to provide safe sleep education and portable cribs to families who simply cannot afford a crib for their baby.”

Safe sleep practices are essential for ensuring infant health. Many parents and caregivers are unaware that how their baby sleeps can put them at a higher risk of infant death.

The money raised will continue to go towards families who need it, offering outreach activities free of charge.
