Saint Louis Closet Co.’s charitable efforts are continuing in March with Closets for a Cause! This time, we’ll be giving back to Down Syndrome Association of Greater St. Louis (DSAGSL), which is dedicated to supporting nearly 2,000 individuals with Down syndrome.

DSAGSL
This charity’s mission is to benefit the lives of people with Down syndrome, and their families, through individual and family support, education, public awareness, and advocacy. From delivering celebration baskets when a family first receives a diagnosis, to employment training and job placement opportunities – DSAGSL will be there.
In 1976, seven mothers of children with Down syndrome held their first meeting to discuss thoughts and ideas about the health, life, and well-being of their families. Over 40 years and a couple name changes later, the Down Syndrome Association of Greater St. Louis advocates, educates, and celebrates with communities in St. Louis and beyond.
Life-Changing Programs
All of the funds raised from Closets for a Cause will be used on the life-changing programs and resources DSAGSL provides. Three programs include:
- Small Steps – This programming offers therapeutic playgroups, summer day camp, and a Down syndrome education specialist program. It is intended for children aged 2 – 8 years old – a critical stage of child development.
- Rock 21 – This program brings dreams to reality. Many of DSAGSL’s local individuals with Down syndrome have always dreamed of being a rock star. It’s time for them to shine with 8 weeks of band practice and a concert.
- Pop Up Snack Shop – This mobile snack shop is run by individuals with Down syndrome. Individuals receive job skills and communication skills training, as well as learn the ins and outs of running a small business.
Closets for a Cause
Saint Louis Closet Co. began Closets for a Cause in February 2020. Each month, a percentage of gross sales will be donated to a local charity. Stray Rescue of St. Louis was our first recipient.
