For February, Saint Louis Closet Co. will be donating a portion of its profits to the Cancer Support Community of Greater St. Louis. Made possible by Saint Louis Closet Co.’s giveback program, Closets for a Cause, the donation will ensure the nonprofit can continue to ensure that all people impacted by cancer are empowered by knowledge, strengthened by action, and sustained by community.
The Cancer Support Community of Greater St. Louis
Founded in 1993, the Cancer Support Community of Greater St. Louis helps more than 1,800 individuals each year. Using about 2,800 different programs and 10,000 hours of service, the nonprofit instills its five pillars (support, education, healthy living skills, social connections, and resource and referral materials) for free. That’s right, every resource the Cancer Support Community of Greater St. Louis offers is free.
No one else in St. Louis does what Cancer Support Community does. Many great research organizations and world-class medical facilities exist, but no one provides no-cost, comprehensive psychosocial support. Cancer Support Community is the 3rd leg of the tripod in providing comprehensive psychosocial support. Cancer Support Community’s no-cost professionally-led psychosocial support is unique and unparalleled. They offer:
- Programming for all types of cancer
- Support at any point in the journey
- Support to anyone impacted by cancer, including the person with the diagnosis, family, loved ones, and caregivers
- Unique programming that fills a void:
- Families Connect-the only program to serve kids with a parent or grandparent impacted by cancer
- The Jason Brightfield Young Adult Program-focuses on the unique needs of younger generations affected by cancer
Saint Louis Closet Co.’s Impact
The money raised by Saint Louis Closet Co. will go towards providing support groups, educational workshops, healthy lifestyle classes, stress management classes, social opportunities, and resource materials. Because all these resources are offered at no cost, the Cancer Support Community must rely on donations from individuals, family and private foundations, corporations, and special event fundraisers.
“We are thrilled to partner with Saint Louis Closet Co. in support of our programs,” says Amanda Corcoran, Development and Communications Manager of the Cancer Support Community of Greater St. Louis. “This generous partnership will allow us to continue our programs for our current participants as well as expand our reach and awareness in the community.”
Saint Louis Closet Co. is proud to give back to its community and to people who need it.
