Speaking of doing good, a portion of all Saint Louis Closet Co. sales made throughout the month of March will go towards our next Closets for a Cause recipient, Autism Speaks St. Louis! Here’s a little more information on yet another awe-inspiring nonprofit organization.
Autism Speaks St. Louis
Autism Speaks has been assisting over 1,000 families in the St. Louis area a year since 2002. The nonprofit is dedicated to promoting solutions, across the spectrum and throughout the lifespan, for the needs of individuals with autism and their families. They are able do this through advocacy and support, increasing understanding and acceptance of people with autism, and advancing research into causes and better interventions for autism spectrum disorder and related conditions.
The Saint Louis Closet Co. Impact
Eighty-five cents of every dollar Autism Speaks spends is funding research, advocacy, programs, and services. Their fundraising supports people in every community by providing 24/7 access to online resources, being the primary source of information and referral, and advocating at the federal and state level. In addition, their grants to organizations working in communities around the country can have the most lasting impact on autistic people and their families.
Autism Speaks Nationwide
Since 2007, Autism Speaks has provided nearly 2,000 grants totaling $14 million to organizations, individuals, and families across every state in the U.S. Through their efforts, the nonprofit is:
- Increasing global understanding and acceptance of people with autism
- Being a catalyst for life-enhancing research breakthroughs
- Increasing early childhood screening and timely interventions
- Improving the transition to adulthood
- Ensuring access to reliable information and services throughout the lifespan
