Toys for Tots

Come by Saint Louis Closet Co.’s showroom in Maplewood to see The Big 550 KTRS McGraw Milhaven and Kelly Jackson broadcast their show live and help us kick off our Toys for Tots Drive!

MISSION:
The mission of the U. S. Marine Corps Reserve Toys for Tots Program is to collect new, unwrapped toys during November and December each year, and distribute those toys as Christmas gifts to less fortunate children in the community in which the campaign is conducted.

GOAL:
The primary goal of Toys for Tots is to deliver, through a new toy at Christmas, a message of hope to less fortunate youngsters that will assist them in becoming responsible, productive, patriotic citizens.

OBJECTIVES:
The objectives of Toys for Tots are to help less fortunate children throughout the United States experience the joy of Christmas; to play an active role in the development of one of our nation’s most valuable resources – our children; to unite all members of local communities in a common cause for three months each year during the annual toy collection and distribution campaign; and to contribute to better communities in the future.

We will have coffee, hot chocolate and bagels for all those who stop by.

Don’t forget to bring a new, unwrapped, toy to donate to Toys for Tots!

Saint Louis Closet Co. Gives Back!

Webster – Kirkwood Times recognized Saint Louis Closet Co. in this week’s paper.

Kirkwood High School alum, Jennifer Quinn Williams, and her company, Saint Louis Closet Co., donated a new and organized Pioneer Pride School Store. The new store is located across the hall from the library and houses spirit wear, school supplies and miscellaneous Kirkwood High School gear. By having the larger and more organized space the school is able to carry more options for apparel.

Williams graduated from Kirkwood High in 1984 and was inducted into the school’s inaugural Hall of Fame in 2010. In 1997 Williams donated $10,000 to the Kirkwood High School journalism program and over $200,000 in custom shelving.

KHS School Spirit store was completed over the summer and was up and running by the first day of school. An additional island was added in September to aid with storage and a display.  Click here to read full article  Webster-Kirkwood Times Article

Get Organized with Custom Closets

Moms, Treat Yourself This Fall!

You have been getting the kids packed and unpacked from Summer camps, getting the family to and from Summer vacations, and getting everyone organized for the new school year with trips to the store for books, paper, pens, pencils, markers, haircuts, new clothes, new shoes, new backpacks, lunch boxes and everything else under the sun. Now that you have successfully transitioned the kids and the family into the new school year, it is time to take some time to get yourself organized.

I know there are plenty of moms out there who put themselves last on their list of priorities when it comes to things like buying new clothes, buying new shoes, getting a haircut, and so on. What many mothers do not realize, though, is that if you are putting yourself last, who is putting you first? Getting your children organized for the new school year–and more importantly keeping them that way–is not going to happen unless you get yourself organized first.

Let’s start by taking a look at your bedroom closet. Whether it is a disaster or could just use a good sort-through, now is the perfect time to take some time for yourself and get your belongings in order for the new season. Saint Louis Closet Co. specializes in getting you organized, and we can work with you to create a bedroom closet that will work with your daily life. That is the great thing about getting a 100% custom closet: the space is designed with your needs on the forefront. One of the many features that we offer is shoe shelving. You can get flat or slanted shoe shelving for as many pairs of shoes as you need. No longer will you need to spend 20 minutes digging through a pile of shoes on the floor trying to find one matching pair.

Being able to get out the door as efficiently and quickly as possible in the morning is directly related to how prepared you are to face the day. If you have to spend 15 minutes in the morning deciding what to wear, ironing your clothes and picking out shoes, that means it is going to be 15 minutes that you are unable to make sure your kids are up, moving and ready to get out the door. A few things that I use daily to get myself organized in the morning are the folding ironing board and telescoping rod from Saint Louis Closet Co. I get myself as prepared as possible the night before so that I can focus my attention of getting everyone out the door on time and on schedule. Saint Louis Closet Co. offers a folding ironing board that fits conveniently in the space of a 24” wide drawer. After ironing my clothes for the next day, I hang it on one of our telescoping rods that extend from the side of our closet unit. And by having shelves that clearly display the days’ possible shoe options, I never have to dig for a pair of shoes to match my outfit.

The reason I chose to focus my post this week on getting moms organized is because I believe that moms’ needs are the last ones on the list of priorities. We all need to realize that, as mothers, we are the driving force behind the success of our families, and if we do not take some time to take care of getting ourselves organized in the short run, we will not be able to get the rest of the family organized in the long run.

About Our Designers

Shayla Berkley

Shayla

Years at the company: 13

Why she loves being a designer for Saint Louis Closet Co.: Helping people get organized is the most rewarding part of being a designer for Saint Louis Closet Co. I love working with repeat clients. They bring with them this contagious excitement. I enjoy going to new places, new spaces and new homes every day. Each day is different than the previous day. It keeps me on my toes and keeps my creativity going.

What is the most important thing to keep in mind when getting a custom closet: First and foremost, you need to prioritize your spaces. You should start with the most unorganized, disruptive place in your home. The change you will see after fixing just that one space is amazing and you’ll realize just how much custom organization has helped your life.

What she likes to do when she’s not designing: Playing with my two grandchildren, swing dancing, golfing, water aerobics and visiting with family and friends.

Mary Cain

Years at the company: 14

Why she loves being a designer for Saint Louis Closet Co.: The extremely satisfied repeat customers! My goal is to change chaos into a well-designed place for everything and to create new spaces in each of my customer’s lives. I walk away from their homes knowing that I really helped to make a difference in their lives.

What is the most important thing to keep in mind when getting a custom closet: It helps tremendously when you can actually sit down with your designer and have her draw up your closets on the spot and explain exactly how the design is going to meet your needs.

What she likes to do when she’s not designing: Spending time with my husband, son and daughter are on the top of my list.  We are always updating and remodeling our home.  We also enjoy weekend getaways at Mark Twain Lake, boating, jetskiing and kayaking.

Christine Haltenhof

Christine

Years at the company: 17

Why she loves being a designer for Saint Louis Closet Co.: First and foremost, the amazing relationships I have developed over the years with both new and repeat customers. Secondly, I love being able to use my creativity every day; every project is completely different, with its own specialized needs.

What is the most important thing to keep in mind when getting a custom closet: Because the custom closets are 100% adjustable they can be changed as your needs change.  If you sell your home, that feature is passed on to the new homeowner.  Custom closets are considered a permanent improvement to your home and will add significant resale value. Secondly, I love that it is the only female-owned closet business in St. Louis. [Owner] Jennifer Williams operates this company in the same manner that she would want people to work for her in her own home. There is unparalleled attention to detail and a great level of respect and care given to each and every customer.

What she likes to do when she’s not designing: I love to spend time with my two children and four grandchildren.  My hobbies are gardening, traveling, theater, music and staying fit.

Years at the company: 7

Why she loves being a designer for Saint Louis Closet Co.: I absolutely love working with people!  I have developed so many amazing relationships and have designed some incredible spaces for them.  It’s rewarding to have my repeat customers call me directly with their new projects!  I also work with a group of extraordinary people.  I know that all the staff my clients work with from SLCC will be treated with the best customer service in the industry.

What is the most important thing to keep in mind when getting a custom closet: Do not be intimidated by getting organized; it is not as daunting of a task as you think it will be. Also, it doesn’t take thousands of dollars to get organized. We can work with any size budget, and I think that the affordability of a custom closet is something that really surprises a lot of people.

What she likes to do when she’s not designing: I love the flexibility of my schedule because it allows me to spend time with my wonderful husband and children; Reece and Chase.

Tammy Simpson

Tammy

Years at the company: 15

Why she loves being a designer for Saint Louis Closet Co.: The flexibility of my schedule is great. It allows me to plan my time to be able to serve my customers, as well as spending time with my family.  Each day is a fun new challenge, and the variety of what I can offer goes beyond storage issues, it’s a complete organizational re-work.  It is truly rewarding to help my clients.

What is the most important thing to keep in mind when getting a custom closet: Most people don’t realize how affordable custom closets can be. Many think that you have to spend a lot of money and get all sorts of accessories, but most times I find that keeping the design simple not only makes it affordable, but you don’t feel overwhelmed or distracted by how much is going on in your closets. Don’t forget that the closet is the tool, not the solution, to getting organized. It is up to you to keep yourself organized, but you will be amazed at just how much easier it will be to stay organized by installing one of our custom closet systems.

What she likes to do when she’s not designing: I love listening to music, watching movies and enjoying the outdoors in my free time. Spending time with my family and friends is very important.

Maria Skornia

Maria

Years at the company: 8

Why she loves being a designer for Saint Louis Closet Co.: My favorite part is my freedom to be creative. The company is extremely supportive of your creativity and they want you to improve on your craft and pick up new things from other designers along the way. All of the designers really are fabulous and whenever we’re in the office, we like to bounce ideas off each other and get a feel for new trends in the closet industry. There is so much to learn and so many ways to be creative, I love it!

What is the most important thing to keep in mind when getting a custom closet: Keep an open mind and don’t get too attached to your possessions. To get organized, you have to part with some of your things, so make sure that you are ready to do it when you start the process.

What she likes to do when she’s not designing: Anything outdoors with my family and dogs. We love to camp and travel.

Heather Sparks

Heather

Years at the company: 8

Why she loves being a designer for Saint Louis Closet Co.: I love looking at difficult spaces and coming up with the perfect design that will maximize both space and function as well as look beautiful once completed.  Every space is different and each customer has unique needs…I enjoy the challenge of creating custom designs and I love hearing how happy my clients are with their newly organized spaces!

What is the most important thing to keep in mind when getting a custom closet: Saint Louis Closet Co. designs custom spaces based on the customers specific needs.  Take time to think about how you use your space on a daily basis and communicate that with your designer.  The details of your life are reflected in the details of your closet, pantry, home office, etc.  So definitely keep that in mind throughout the design process.

What she likes to do when she’s not designing: I enjoy spending time with my three kids.  My daughters are very involved in competitive dance and my son is getting ready to graduate from high school.  I also teach dance and love to travel.
